The bar is strong and smooth- it will probably last. The diameter of this grab bar- is better for a man's hand. I have small grab bars in my other baths, and they are more comfortable to grasp, give a more secure grip (fingers wrap tighter). Wet- it would be slippery - more surface, more slip. I couldn't find a smaller one in black which matches my faucets.

I believe the design is flawed on most grab bars, someone thinks bigger is better for strength, it isn't-- the length of the screws, the placement (ON stud, or with the proper anchors) is what determines strength if the metal is adequately thick and of good quality. THIS BAR is better than the even LARGER elliptical oval- which was so large it looked commercial and was difficult to place.

Smaller diameter, rectangular bars are superior to round- because the edges afford better grip too.

Smaller diameter rectangular bars with rectangular anchor plates are more attractive.

The wooden supports called "studs" are 16 inches apart- so bars 16-18" are probably the easiest to properly place.
